Along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, our doctors at On the Cusp recommend that a child’s first dental visit be scheduled around his or her first birthday. Research conducted by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, states that “the odds of a child having tooth decay at the first dental visit more than doubles for every year of increased age.”

It is very important to us that a first visit is a positive and comfortable one. It is important that every child has a dental home, and we want to be yours! Our joyful, kid-friendly office and kind team will make your child feel right at home.

What to expect:

For the first dental visit, you and your child(ren) will get to meet the dental hygienist, the doctor, and will be given an office tour and new patient packet with fun goodies.

During your child’s first exam, we will notate the child’s dental and medical history, complete a comprehensive exam, with x-rays if needed, and discuss any findings with you.Younger patients may be a little nervous and that is why we offer lap exams— meaning the child can sit on mom or dad’s lap during the exam.

Here at OTC we want each patient to have the most comfortable and fun experience at the dentist, if you have any questions about what else to expect please call our office any time. We would love to meet you and your family and redefine what a “trip to the dentist” means!
